A rather grim sight at the Australia Zoo to be sure: a box of traditional Chinese medicine containing tiger is displayed at the zoo's "tiger temple". It is medicines like this that are dooming the tiger to extinction if we don't do something about it. However, the good news is that the Australia Zoo is working hard to educate people about this problem in addition to raising important funds. The more we know about the threats that face the tiger, the better equipped we as individuals are to stopping them!

Do your part and spend a little time researching tigers for yourself!

With all the technology and medical advancements out there, I am confused as to why some cultures stick to old world ideas. Its not like China is a third world country without any technology whatsoever. There is no need for these kinds of things

Tradition and prestige are powerful motivators in China, although I can't speak to it from a Chinese perspective, of course.

Get the benefits of tiger straight from the source WHILE going green! Lick a tiger. :|

I hate the stupidity some people cling to. "I'm sure it's very traditional for you to turn endangered animals into 'medicine'. It's traditional for -my- people to burn people alive in pagan ceremonies." There's a point where tradition should become history.

I really wish some people would try that method instead.
