Maiken, a grey wolf (Canis lupus) at Jungle Cat World Zoo, surveys its territory at Jungle Cat World. The enclosure is one of the more well designed enclosures at Jungle Cat World with a hilly terrain and plenty of vegetation.

Maiken is definitely one of the heart-warming stories of Jungle Cat World. She arrived with her brother and was terrified of just about anything that moved. Despite the keepers best efforts to socialize her its seemed like a lost cause. Eventually, she was introduced to two long-time residents, a mated pair of fellow grey wolves. She got along famously with them and although she is still abit skeptical of people, she definitely has a lot of confidence and is now queen of her domain.

Some years ago, I did a Yarn-weaving gig with a pair of Ambassador Wolves sitting either side of me. One of them, Dakota, has sadly died since.
