Hello All,
First, I haven't forgotten about the print sale results...I just need to do a few things before I post them.
This entry begins, what I hope to be, a series of journal entries highlighting some amazing artists here on DeviantArt and elsewhere. Be sure to check out these artists and, if they offer commissions, please give them your business.
~CatWarrior first caught my attention a while back with a well deserved DailyDeviation called "Stand For - Stand Against".
I find it very rare to come across artwork with so much heart and emotion. The expressiveness of the characters and the short story told in the artist comments combine to paint an emotional image of courageous defiance in the face of insurmountable adversity and injustice...it is a story told many times in many ways, though in this case done with the use of animal anthropomorphics. Regardless of your opinion on such characters, the story is universal and the individuals in this deviation convey emotion and demand sympathy as effectively as any tragic human hero. It is one of my favourite works here on DeviantArt and strikes a particular inspiration chord with me. The work beckons introspection on what we would be willing to sacrifice in the name of defending the weak or the forgotten, of acting on behalf of what is right rather than what is easy and fighting for what we believe in not just in death, but also in how we live our lives. Would we do the same? Do we succumb to convention and turn a blind eye to the injustices in the world or do we rise up against them, despite the consequences? We each have the chance to make a difference every day to make the world a better place...this deviation reminds me not to spurn the opportunity.
